What is the value of losing an Idea?

Have you ever encountered a person who didn't listened to your idea?  Do you have a boss who never listens to your idea? Then finally you get discouraged and give up.  Some great opportunities are missed and you hear the news in the industry about bankruptcy, layoffs, customer complaints, lawsuits, takeovers. Only those who have missed the bus will come to know about the importance of timing.  In this new age, losing an idea from any person or a corporation is unacceptable. Sometimes some great solutions to great problem will come from a receptionist or the guy cleaning windows or your linchpin.  If you are not writing your ideas as soon as they come you are at risk. Getting yourself familiarized to writing your own thoughts and ideas.  And get off the chair and start spreading your ideas.  If you have good boss then he/she will tell you to document your idea and present it in the next team meeting.  That's how great start ups and thriving c...

How to retain employees?

You loose employees because of many reasons: 1) Lack of trust 2) Poor incentives 3) Lack of respect 4) Lack of fun 5) And you can count as many as you can. But the biggest reason for loosing employees is "Lack of fun at work" .  If your employees are not having fun at work they are surely not going to come back with enthusiasm.  You want them to come everyday with full energy and full commitment to work.  You want them to become linchpins along the way. You have to incorporate creativity and playfulness in their daily job description.  You as a leader has to bring in games, competitions, movies, playful atmosphere and joy from contributing linchpin work. Ask your employees frequently if they are having fun ?  If the answer is no then address it as quickly as you can by bringing in some fun to work place.  You could either bring in food like Professor Clint.  Or you could give away ice creams like CEO John Chambers of CISCO.  Why peo...

Are you Creative?

Image
I am very fascinated about Creativity.  Creativity can ignite the spark in you.   Creativity is awesome.  It gives you a high.  Adrenaline rushes into your blood when you are creative.  Creativity to me is doing something different.  Creativity is breaking the mold and challenging the status quo.  It is not only applicable to people who are in entertainment, marketing, or advertising business but to everybody. Creativity is everywhere.  You can be creative even while cleaning the floor.  You can be creative in presenting your ideas to your friends, to your boss, to your consultant or professor.  All you need to do is think differently and execute it irrespective of your fear and resistance.  Creativity is so simple to understand yet difficult to realize.  It is just being yourself and nobody else. Last year my father gifted me the greatest gift of all times.  He gave me a book on creativity( Creativity: Unleashing the...

Don't mix Creativity and Money

Creativity and money don't go together.  You cannot be creative and think of monetary gains at the same time.   Your not creative because you will be rewarded.  You are creative because you want to be.  Creatives love whatever they do and whenever they do.  Creatives love problem solving.  How to best solve this problem. How can I design a product that would solve customer needs?  They do not go for how much would I be paid if I come up with a design that would solve the problem. Dan Pink in this Ted video tells us same story about how incentives can harm creativity.  If you focus on being creative then sure you will be rewarded in the long run.
