It doesn't matter how many friends you have on facebook or followers on twitter or any other social network.  It doesn't matter how many people you meet and greet everyday.  What matters is are those connections and relationships working for you? Creating a working relationship is the key.  When you needed something and those people helped you is what matters.  You have to build your bridges to cross the river.  An invite for a dinner, breakfast or lunch is a great way to build a working relationship.  How can you have a relationship that works?  How can you help each other is essential in building long term relationships.  Go find who can help you and do some good for that person and keep doing it forever.

Go and check every famous brands who have lots of fans and followers. The first important factor you will find in them is that they are very best in doing one thing.  They are best at it.   The second important factor is they all are leading a tribe of people with similar interest. Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and name others who have more fan following.  They are best at producing music that is liked by their audience. TechCrunch.com got more fan not by saying how they are feeling but by writing about technology that makes a difference in people's life.  Absolutely no nonsense when it comes to product design for APPLE.  When apple designs a product, they want no interference with the content and the user.  No buttons and no unnecessary interface.  Apple believes providing a slick and sexy platform and just getting out of  people's way. It allows people to touch the content and feel the product.  People should forget about the product when they use it.  All the social networks, communities or organizations should be built with such "superb simplicity". Build a platform and get out of their way.  That is the biggest reason why twitter is a hit and so is facebook.  And so is orkut not so sexy.
